Resident Evil 7 VR Support Increased Development Cost

Resident Evil 7 VR release date set for early next year

After filing their tax results, Capcom recently awarded its investors with a Q&A to address the growing budget allocated to the game. They said that this increment has been due to the developmental changes made to the game. They intend to make the game compatible with two additional gaming platforms: PlayStation VR and PlayStation 4.

Capcom has addressed the issue stating that for VR compatibility, they had to make the graphics of the games more complex. The VR platform graphics are more sophisticated and required a bigger investment to develop. (via VideoGamer)

Certain things were required in making the game VR-compatible, such as graphic needs that are more complex than before, thus there was an increase in development investment,” said the company.

Capcom Confirms Resident Evil 7 VR Increase Dev Costs

The Japanese company, however, claims that it made use of their tool which will ensure that the budget does not pain the company coffers. The company claims that it is using resources like 3d scanning system, and lighting and shading. With this fundamental technology, the company believes it will enable them to cut down the cost. They went ahead to assure the investors that although they are looking to cut downs costs, the developmental quality of the game will not change.

Although Capcom has not confirmed the exact budget due to these changes, we do know that they are already working on programming the game to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation VR. With the millions of download for the DEMO version of the game, anxiety and anticipation have risen for both the investors and the customers.

Resident Evil 7 will be released on January 24 for Xbox One, PC and PlayStation 4. The game is centered around a horror theme and will feature a first person adventure, with a new protagonist. It will be a continuation of the previous installment Resident Evil 6. Capcom has confirmed that the game takes place in the rural area of southern United States.

It is the 20th anniversary of the game and it celebrates breaking ground on PlayStation 4, Xbox one and PlayStation VR.
